This solar radiation sensor has very high accuracy and supports inspection. Widely used in solar energy utilization, weather stations, agriculture, building material aging, air pollution, and other fields, the pyranometer measures solar radiation energy.

It uses the thermoelectric principle to measure solar radiation with a spectral range of 0.3 to 3 μm. A desiccant-filled drying cartridge prevents dew from forming on the inner sides of the domes. The sensor can be leveled without a leveling base using a bubble level and adjusting leveling screws, ensuring high accuracy. It can also be sent for inspection.

Features – Pyranometer Sensor

Working principle

The pyranometer sensor working principle: the sensing element is a wire-wound electroplating thermopile, and the sensing surface is a black layer with high absorptivity. Utilize the thermal effect of radiation, absorb solar radiation to produce temperature difference, and output the measured value. It also has a temperature compensation function, which can accurately measure solar radiation.

The upper part of the sensing surface adopts a transparent double-layer glass cover with a light transmittance of 95%, which can not only reduce the influence of air convection on the equipment but also block the radiation of the cover itself. And add a radiation shield to measure scattered radiation.

Pyranometer installation

1.Make sure to install the bracket, and the radiation sensor is parallel to the ground (leveling can be done through the leveling knob)
2. Use screws to pass through the mounting holes on the sensor to fix the sensor on the mounting bracket
3. After installation, remove the protective cover
4. Please pay attention not to damage the glass cover during the installation process, so as not to affect the measurement accuracy
5. The installation location should be an open place all around and without any obstructions.

Solar Pyranometer Sensor Maintenance

  • Keep the glass cover smooth and clean by frequently wiping it with a soft cloth or fur.
  • Ensure there is no water inside the glass cover. In case of heavy rain, snow, ice, or other prolonged weather conditions, cover the glass.
  • Regularly check the desiccant in the dryer for dampness. If the orange color turns dark, replace the desiccant immediately or dry it and reuse it.
  • If the equipment has been in use for over two years, have the sensitivity re-calibrated by the manufacturer or a measurement department
